Coping with COVID
The world is dealing with a pandemic that started in the beginning of the year. Many people are following guidelines on staying safe and preventing the spread of COVID 19. There are a lot of people not quite sure how to handle the uncertainty that is before them. For some, leaving the house just to go to the grocery store on what people would consider to be a “normal day” can be a tough task to achieve. Now, with so many out there seeing the need to “panic-buy” and hoard a lot of items, taking a trip to the store becomes a whole new battleground.
Not only is going to the grocery store a crazy adventure, but this nation that was once great and thriving, is dwindling and the economy is failing. Everything is at a stand still; businesses are shut down, many people have been laid off indefinitely, and there are so many of us wondering what the future holds or what the result of this outbreak will bring. We can only sit quiet at home and wait.
While everyone is at home with family and doing their part in stopping the spread of COVID, we must remember that we are not in control of this and we shouldn’t stress over those things that we cannot control. However, we do have the ability to control how we handle and react to this situation. Although it may be hard and not all of us understand what the heck is really going on, we can use cannabis to help us take a step back and analyze our feelings and calm our emotions.
In this new age of “Social Distancing” some may find it hard to relax and unwind. Especially if their day-to-day routine is usually full of packed public transportation, fast paced enviornments, and grueling hours on the clock. Now all of a sudden, a lot of us who are used to living in a GO GO GO world have to learn to slow down and count the minutes. Below, are a few strains to help calm the nerves and help cope with this period of quarantine.
Bio Jesus – 300mg disposable vape
This heavy, sedating indica will help ease your mind and maybe even help you sleep if that is what you need right now. Bio Jesus is mind numbing and pain relieving, allowing us to feel less stressed and combat any aches associated with stress as well.Durban Poison – 250mg disposable vape, flower, and 500mg cartridge
Durban Poison is a fan favorite when it comes to needing a little bit of a boost to your attitude. It is an elevating sativa that can promote creativity and euphoria. Utilizing a nice sativa might be a great way to combat the Quarantine Blues.Bath Salt Soaks and Bath Bombs – Verano lavender salt soaks, IESO Bath Bombs
Yes! There are ways to enjoy cannabis without inhaling or eating the products. Taking a bath can help patients who have difficulty breathing like with COPD and asthma. Baths can
help with blood circulation and also fight off bacteria. When adding cannabis to your bath, it can intensify all of these benefits including help ease stress, aid in sleep, and fight inflammation.Edibles – gummies have so many great flavor options and are a great way to microdose with THC.
With so many options when it comes to edibles, there are quite a few that will help during the COVID crisis. Mindy’s Artisan edibles line has a handful of different flavors and a couple of options to microdose with. Remember to always start low and go slow with edibles, they can take up to 2hours to feel any effects.
Please do not inhale cannabis if you are experiencing any kind of respritory issues or symptoms of COVID 19. Instead, try edibles from the dispensary or you can try making your own gummies with the recipe privded here.
Cannabis may not be for everyone, but everyone could use some relief from this weird time. Please reach out to your peers for guidance. I know we are all practicing “Social Distancing” but that does not mean you cannot pick up the phone and make a call or send a message over facebook. Let’s make a point to check up on each other. Encourage your loved ones and check up on your family and elderly. There are plenty of ways to do video chats now; please use these interactions to digitally visit your friends and play games via the internet!
There are some really cool apps out there to take advantage of during this time, too. Headspace is a meditation app that offers guidance through a lot of life’s troubles. Here, I have included a link that will allow you to try Headspace for 14days free of charge.
Please be safe during this time and use the following 5 steps to stop the spread of COVID:
Wash your hands OFTEN
Use your elbow or tissue to cough and sneeze into
Don’t touch your face
If you have to be in public, keep at least 6ft apart from other people
Stay home if you feel any symptoms, and stay home even if you don’t!
